Kent Cricket
Having held first class status since 1864, Kent Cricket is one of the eighteen first-class county clubs within England & Wales and is regarded as one of the most historic and successful counties in English cricket. Throughout its proud history, the club has secured numerous titles, including multiple County Championship titles, establishing itself as a powerhouse of the English game throughout the 20th century. Notable players that have represented Kent Cricket include English legends Frank Woolley, Colin Cowdrey and Derek Underwood. Overseas stars to have featured for the club include Asif Iqbal, Aravinda de Silva and the late Andrew Symonds, who was crowned as the Spitfire’s greatest overseas player. Most notably hitting a 34 ball T20 century, the fastest in competition history.
Kent Cricket hosts its home fixtures primarily at the St Lawrence Ground, one of the oldest cricket grounds in the world and a venue synonymous with English county cricket. Established in 1847, the ground is famous for its picturesque setting and historic atmosphere, including the iconic lime tree that once stood within the boundary rope. The venue has hosted numerous international fixtures, including Test matches, One-Day Internationals and ICC tournament fixtures, while continuing to serve as the heart of cricket in Kent.
